Jay Leroy Williams of Mt. Gilead passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at his home.
Mr. Williams was born on September 20, 1975, in Wilson County, North Carolina, the son of Leroy Williams, Jr. and the late Gladys Leigh Owens Williams.
Jay received his Bachelors’ degree from N.C. State University and a Masters’ degree in Counseling from East Carolina University. He previously was a Mental Health/Substance Abuse Counselor in Cumberland County. Jay was most proud of homeschooling his two daughters who he dearly loved. His daughters were his world. He was known as a jokester, and he could often find humor in life. Jay was a Christian, loved the Lord, and trusted in Jesus Christ as his savior.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Amanda Marrow Williams of Mt. Gilead; two precious daughters: Jayla and Aubree Williams of the home; father: Leroy Williams, Jr., Elm City, NC; and guide dog Whitney who he received from the Guiding Eyes for the Blind in New York; and numerous extended family members who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys and former loyal guide dog, Valiant.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken McRae officiating. Burial will be at Thomas Jefferson at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street, Wilson, NC on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
