Janie Davis Hayes

Janie "Granny" Davis Hayes, age 101, of Asheboro died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church. Mrs. Hayes was a native of Stokes County, of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Hayes, daughter, Faye Powers, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. Mrs. Hayes loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be remembered for her dry sense of humor, her quilting and her gardening. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Hayes and his wife Margaret of Asheboro, Fred Hayes of Asheboro; daughters, Ruby Brady of Asheboro, Phyllis Hammond and her husband Ronald of Asheboro, Bonnie Evans of Greensboro; son-in-law, Edison Powers of Bennett; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, other times at the home of Phyllis Hammond, 629 Graceland Dr., Asheboro. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Sherry Jarrell and Maria Zambrano and the staff of Hospice of Randolph for the care given to Mrs. Hayes.
