Janette Hendrix Smith, age 108, of Asheboro died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Carillon Assisted Living Of Asheboro, Asheboro.The funeral will be Monday, September 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Holder and Rev. George Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Asheboro City Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was a native of Randolph County, a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Washington Duke Smith. The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Carrillon Assisted Living of Asheboro and the nurses of Hopice of Randolph for the excellent care that they all provided to Mrs. Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Campbell of Charlotte, and sons, William David Smith and his wife Phyllis of Stephens City, VA, Clarence Edward Smith and his wife Shirley of Asheboro, NC; grandsons: Craig Campbell and his wife Donna of Raleigh, NC, Mike Campbell of Charlotte and David Smith and his wife Mary of N. Yarmouth, Maine; 4 great grandchildren: Duke and Christy Campbell of Raleigh, and Alex and Emily Smith of N. Yarmouth, Maine The family will receive friends Monday, September 28, 2009 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
