Janet Lucas Graves, age 74, of 307 Bossong Dr., Asheboro died Friday, June 10, 2011 at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor O. Ralph Kraft, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Graves was a native of Asheboro, a 1955 graduate of Asheboro High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and retired from Asheboro City Schools. Mrs. Graves was preceded in death by her parents, W. Clyde and Pearlie Moore Lucas.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Graves; sons, Christopher L. Graves and his wife Lynette of Asheboro, D. Lucas Graves of Arlington, VA; grandson, Adam Graves; and sister, Joyce Ward and her husband Jerry of Asheboro.
Janet loved music and the sharing of her own musical talents. She loved her work and the many friends made in her career. She loved UNC basketball with a passion unmatched. Janet always had a special love for her AHS Class of 1955 that only deepened over time. She enjoyed travel and the rewards and challenges of living in countries around the world. She made a home for her family in Turkey, Italy, Ireland and Mexico and forged friendships in each place that lasted a lifetime. Janet had a caring and enduring love for her family, especially her babies, Lucas, Chris and Adam.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 13, 2011 following the funeral service at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, other times at the home at 307 Bossong Drive, Asheboro, NC.
