Janelle Fern Jose Watson, age 94, of Asheboro, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Randolph Health.
Born January 23, 1923 in Leedey, Oklahoma to George and Daisy Bell Galland Jose.
Preceded in death, her mother Daisy Bell in 1935, her father George Jose in 1953, her husband, our daddy James Harold Logan in 1952, her brother Lloyd Jose in 1982, sister Maudie Sutherland in1991, granddaughter Carla Brooks Martin in 2008, her twin sister Janiece Fay Watson in 2015.
Mom was quick to tell you that she was born in a snowstorm and had been cold ever since.
Being part of the families that settled the Oklahoma territories, she and her twin sister were born in a partial 2 room dugout with no water or electricity and lived there thru the 1950's. She often told us of the times she and her sister would climb down in the cistern and clean the algae with baking soda. Although she would say, 'hot, dry and windy in the summer and cold and windy in the winter', she loved Oklahoma.
Her version of the song 'Oklahoma' was a mix of Oklahoma and 'Home Home on the Range'. Not one to carry a tune in a bucket but you couldn't help smile because she took great pride in her effort.
Mama loved being outside. Her Macular degeneration had taken all her sight which made her days long. But she loved all nature had to offer. She loved to listen to the birds, 'Can someone take me outside so I can sit in the sun'. She loved messing with plant cuttings or planting a garden, which had become impossible. She told me Tuesday after she was admitted into the hospital, 'we need to plant a garden' and then decided on tomatoes, corn and beans. I didn't have the heart to tell her, we were headed for Cold weather.
She had overcome many severe strokes but this one was not to be.After our Daddy died, she was all we had and we were all she had. There were many times we struggled but our Heavenly Father provided all our needs. I know Mama accepted Jesus for her eternal salvation. The same Jesus that took away her sins, now takes her by the hand. No more suffering. I know she is singing praises in her glorified body and that tune in a bucket is now a heavenly voice.
She had a devoted love for her 3 children, daughter, Frances Logan, daughter, Lydia and spouse Fred Davenport, son, Harold and spouse Gayla. sweet grand babies, Theresa and Mark Smith, Onita and Michael Schexnayder, Tammy and Rich McSwain, Fredric and Lisa Eckrich, Carla Brooks Martin (deceased), Freddie and Lori Davenport, Steven and Alisha Davenport, Deanna and Todd Gilmore, James and Robbin Logan, and Kelly and Jeff Pierce, 16 great grand babies and 22 great great grand babies.
My heart hurts but we are blessed that we had our Mom for so many years. Our life is like a vapor but her new life is eternal. We loved her dearly. Fly to Jesus Mama, We love you.
