Jane Gelbach McGlohon, age 82, eased from this life on Monday, April 19th, 2010, at Clapp's Nursing Home. She was the daughter of John Kinzer Gelbach and Mary Harrell Gelbach. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Gelbach of Charlotte.
She was a graduate of Asheboro High School, Class of 1944; and received her Nursing degree from Charlotte Presbyterian School of Nursing in the class of 1948. She worked as one of the very first emergency Room nurses at Randolph Hospital, worked as an industrial nurse in several businesses in Asheboro, and retired after 20 years as an Industrial Nurse with Rampon Products, Inc. in Asheboro. She also trained Licensed Practical Nursing students and Red Cross "Grey Ladies".
She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Asheboro, where she sang in the choir for many years. She worked with the Library Committee, and spent many hours updating the records of the church as Chairman of the Historical Committee.
Jane is survived by her husband of 63 years, John A. McGlohon of the home, sons Robert A. and wife, Ann McGlohon; and Steve McGlohon. Grandchildren are Katie, and husband Ben Smith; Robert L. McGlohon and wife Amanda. Great grandchildren are Tatum, Eden and Gracie Smith; and Alex and Zoey McGlohon.
The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the entire staff of Clapp's Nursing Home for the care and attention she received while there. Also, the family has a deep sense of gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Randolph County.
Visitation will be at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro on Wednesday, April 21st from 5-7PM. The funeral will be on Thursday, April 22nd at 2PM at the First United Methodist Church in Asheboro. Internment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery on Albemarle Road.
