James Wendell Weaver, age 85, of Asheboro died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Weaver was born June 14, 1929, the son of Wendell Ira and Agnes Handy Weaver.
James was a native of Fieldale, VA and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired, after 48 years, from Burlington Mills. He had a green thumb, and enjoyed his fruit trees, pecan trees, a large vegetable garden, and, later in life, raising a large flower garden. He was a faithful member of Bailey's Grove Baptist Church of Asheboro.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th floor PCU unit of Randolph Hospital as well as to the Randolph Hospice House, for their kind and compassionate care they gave to James over the past week. They were wonderful.
He is survived by his wife: Jessie Wright Weaver; son and his wife: Jim and Margaret Weaver of Asheboro, NC; son and his wife: Donald and Teresa Weaver of Asheboro, NC; daughter and her husband: Wanda Weaver and John Painter of Fishersville, VA; son and his wife: Ronald Van and Loretta Weaver of Asheboro, NC; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; three sisters: Christine Cox of Randleman, NC, Joan Tate of Asheboro, NC, Debbie Green of Randleman, NC and one brother: Kenny Weaver of High Point, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Bailey's Grove Baptist Church, 1556 N. Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Pastor Jonathan Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
