James Clifford Vest, Sr., age 75, of Asheboro died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Vest was born October 8, 1937 in Robbins to Madie Vest Sheffield. James worked as manager of Seagrove Oil for 26 years, Luck's in Seagrove for 10 years and retired from Klaussner Furniture. He was a member of Callicutt's Chapel Wesleyan Church in Troy. Mr. Vest loved spending time outdoors and tinkering with old cars. He enjoyed attending auctions and flea markets and loved a good deal. In addition to his mother, Mr. Vest was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Estelle Chriscoe, son, Dale Vest, grandsons, Jason Farmer and Jimmy Chriscoe and brother, Winfred Sheffield.
He is survived by son, James Vest, Jr. and his companion Ellen Coleman of Asheboro; daughter Morrissa Myott and her husband Javier of Ramseur, Brenda Vest and special friend, Donald Chriscoe of Seagrove, Linda Chriscoe of Seagrove, Helen Chriscoe of Asheboro, Betty Saunders of Sophia, Barbara Stoneman and her husband Clayton of Trinity; special friend, Carolyn Steele of Asheboro and faithful canine companion, Ginger; brother, Grady Sheffield and his wife Shelia of Asheboro; sister, Nola Laughlin and her husband Alan of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 17, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clayton Stoneman officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
