James Anthony “Tony” Swaney, age 52 of Randleman passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.
Tony was born January 13, 1968 and was a native of Randolph County. Tony was a true outdoorsman. He loved taking walks in the woods, going camping and looking for arrowheads. He had a very free spirit and really enjoyed spending time with family, especially his cousins Gary and Dwayne. Tony worked for 30 years in the furniture industry with Hughes Furniture and High Point Furniture as an upholsterer and in research and development.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth (Russell) Nance of Asheboro, Erica Sparks of Randleman, Harley Swaney of Sophia; mother and step father, Beth Hylton (Gary) Hardin of Randleman; wife, Teresa Swaney of Asheboro; grandchildren, Nate, RJ, Abbie, Axton, Kolby, Keileigh; brother, Ronald Swaney of Spruce Pines; half-sister, Tina Boyce of Randleman; step sister, Michelle (Tommy) Hill; step brothers, Eric Hardin, Gary Hardin II; and step sister Christy Hardin.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 1:50 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Harmon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tony’s honor to the South Plainfield Friends Meeting, Cemetery Fund, 4033 Plainfield Church Rd., Sophia, NC 27350.
