James Boyd Smith, Sr.

James Boyd Smith, Sr., age 95, of Asheboro died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Universal Health Care Of Ramseur in Ramseur. Mr. Smith was born January 16, 1922 the son of William Russell and Lula Foster Smith.

Mr. Smith was a native of Randolph County, Navy WWII Veteran and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. James was retired from Stedman Manufacturing in Asheboro, was a member of Balfour Masonic Lodge #188 in Asheboro. In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Trexler Smith, sister, Evelyn Ruth Smith, brother, W.R. Smith, Jr., sisters, Bonita Smith Hodgin and Helen Smith Creekmore.

He is survived by son: James Boyd Smith, Jr. of Asheboro; nephew, William Russell Smith III and wife Ann; great nephew, William Russell Smith IV and wife Judy; nieces, Betsy Hodgin Smith, Beth Trexler Freeman and Jan Trexler Long.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro with Dr. J.F. Howard officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
