James Howard Simpson

James Howard Simpson, age 87, of 579 N. Oakdale St., Asheboro died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home.Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Billy R. Self officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.Mr. Simpson was born on June 23, 1922 in Alamance County, NC to Joseph William Arthur Simpson and Myrtle Mae Kernodle Simpson. He began working for Barnwell Brothers at the age of 17 and in 1980 retired from Burlington Industries as a truck driver. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Vera Gillette Terrell Simpson, his parents, his brother, William Roland Simpson, and his sister, Maggie Delia Cook. James loved working in his garden. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Ray and her husband Don of Graham, NC; son, Raleigh Simpson and his wife Pat of Graham, NC; daughter, Faye Webster and her husband Jack of Asheboro, NC; son, Jay Simpson and his wife Donna of Asheboro, NC; son, Tommy Simpson and his wife JoAnne of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Belinda Hayes and her husband Frank of Asheboro, NC; 20 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Mary Elizabeth Ward; brother, Joseph Simpson; and sister, Agnus S. Lilly.The family will receive friends on Friday, September 25, 2009 from 12:00- 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
