James Edison Navy

James Edison Navy (Jim) age 90, of Asheboro died May 21, 2008 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living in Clemmons. Mr. Navy was born January 16, 1918 in Greenville, SC to Effie McCullough Tumblin Navy and Clarence Tumblin. He lived most of his life in Asheboro. He was married to Sarah Viola Navy for 68 years. He retired in 1973 from Collins & Aikman Inc. of Siler City. He had a true love of the outdoors. After retirement, he spent much time in his garden, fishing, and visiting family. He was a WWII veteran and was a member of the Asheboro Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was also a past member of the YMCA and had several pool friends that he was close to. He is survived by three children, Patricia Roesel (Charlie) of Myrtle Point, OR, Jerry Navy (Loretta) of York, PA and Randy Navy (Paula) of Winston Salem, NC. He had 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Viola Navy, one sister Kathryn Lewis of Asheboro, NC, one brother Harold Navy of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Asheboro Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1897 Trogdon Hill Rd., Asheboro with Pastor Ken Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Asheboro Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1897 Trogdon Hill Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
