James Chris "Jibo" Martin

James Chris "Jibo" Martin, age 64, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Mr. Martin was a native of Salem, MA, a U. S. Marine veteran and retired from the Wake County school system. He was an avid softball player who was inducted into the USSA Hall of Fame for softball. He played in and won nine softball championships and also won several homerun derbies. He is survived by his wife, Elfi Ulrike Dominick; daughter, Crystal Bantos coward and husband Russell of New Bern; son, Christopher Charle Bantos and wife Mary of New Bern; grandchildren, Valerie Lurvey, Joseph Coward, Hunter and Gage Bantos; special pet, Ollie; mother, Eleni M. Martin of MA; sisters, Margaret Markos of MA, Loretta Linebarrier of Asheboro; brothers, Ernie Bantos of VA and Charlie Bantos of FL. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
