James William Lewis, age 85, of Asheboro died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Cross Road Retirement Community.
Mr. Lewis was born in Asheboro on March 19, 1932 to William and Mary Thomas Lewis. Mr. Lewis served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of West Chapel United Methodist Church where he played and sang in the choir. Mr. Lewis was retired as an Insurance Appraiser with Jim Lewis Appraisal Company and was the former owner/operator of Jim Lewis Body Shop in High Point. He enjoyed boating and riding motorcycles and was the former President of the Goldwing Riders Association. Mr. Lewis was a kind loving, supportive and generous person. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Davis Lewis; sisters, Louise Garner, Clarice Lewis; brothers, Fred, Thomas, Frank and Larry Lewis.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Walters and husband Bill of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Michelle Key, Dustin Walters; great grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Key, Camden Walters; sister, Delores Lassiter of Troy.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1:30-2:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm on Sunday in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Ellis and Rev. Lynn Chaney officiating. Burial will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park.
