James Edward Gerringer, age 61, of Asheboro died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at The Hospice House in Asheboro following a battle with multiple myeloma. Mr. Gerringer, originally form Rush, NY, finally settled in Asheboro following a few job related moves to other states. He worked at Arrow International for 27 years and served as the Plant Services Manager. He was a graduate of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He taught evening computer classes at Randolph Community College from 1987 to 1994. Then, with two young sons and the fact that he greatly enjoyed Boy Scouting as a youth, he became very actively involved in the Boy Scouting program, serving in several leadership positions for 10 years. He also received the adult equivalent of Eagle Scout, Wood Badge. Mr. Gerringer always enjoyed outdoor adventures, fishing and hunting, and loved to just spend time in the woods. He greatly enjoyed his tractors and gardening. Mr. Gerringer was preceded in death by his father, William Gerringer. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Jane Spencer Gerringer; sons, Jason James Gerringer of Ohio, Justin James Gerringer of Asheboro; step-son, Scott McCrary of Indiana; step-daughter, Tracey McCrary-Brower of California; mother, Phyllis Gerringer of New York; and two sisters, Diane Rosington of Nevada and Rebecca Shove of New York. He also had six step-grandchildren, all of Indiana. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry L. Queen and Rev. Billy Jarrett officiating. Memorials may be made to Randolph Cancer Center, 373 N. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Randolph Cancer Center, Randolph Hospital, Randolph Hospital Home Health, Hospice of Randolph County and the Hospice House who gave excellent care to Jim throughout his illness.
