James H. Corbett, age 58, of 187 Corbett Rd., Troy, N. C. left his earthly family and friends and went to be with his Lord and his heavenly family on April 20, 2008.Jimmy was the only son of Bernard and Pauline Corbett of Troy and brother of Judy Corbett Smith, all who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Phebe Morris Corbett and his two children, Gregory James Corbett and his wife, Amanda of Troy and Misty Corbett McFayden and husband, Kenny of Ellerbe, N. C. Jimmy had two grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Kensy and Calvin Corbett and was anticipating the birth of another grandson very soon, Noah McFayden. Jimmy is also survived by a niece, Sherri Smith Davis, her husband Ronnie Davis and his two great-nephews, Colby and Chase Davis, one brother-in-law, Larry Smith and his mother-in-law, Inez Morris. Jimmy was retired from the Department of Transportation Sign Services in Carthage, NC. He was a loving husband, father and Pawpaw. He loved his Lord, his family and his many friends. Jimmy enjoyed playing bluegrass music, fishing at Harkers Island, working with his tractor, and most of all, playing with his grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Troy on Thursday, April 23 from 6 - 9 p.m; other times at the home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at Long Hill Baptist Church, 637 Capelsie Rd., Candor, N. C. at 4 p.m with Pastor Larry Beaver, Pastor Kevin Thompson and Preacher Daniel Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Ophir United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ophir Rd., Troy, N. C.
