James Wade Cheek, age 82, of 1842 Balsam Street, Asheboro went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Pleasant Cross Christian Church Cemetery, Asheboro with Rev. Jeff Maness officiating.
Mr. Cheek was born on September 20, 1928 in Randolph County to William and Macie Cheek. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, was retired from the NC Department of Transportation, and attended Pleasant Cross Christian Church. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Craven, formerly of High Point.
He is survived by former wife, Rena Sue Cheek of Asheboro, NC; sons, Tony Cheek and his wife Janet of Lake City, FL; Johnny Cheek of Asheboro, NC, Roger Cheek of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Derek Cheek and his wife Laura of Washington, OK, Shondra Gifford and her husband Josh of Wake Forest, NC, Ethan Cheek of Lake City, FL, Heather Livingston and her husband John of Lake City, FL; great grandchildren, Kurstan, Clay, and Connor; sister, Louise Cheek Allred and her husband Tim of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Donald Ray Cheek and his wife Iona of Seagrove, NC, Marvin Cheek and his wife Hilda of Asheboro, NC, Jessie Cheek and his wife Sunny of Aurora, CO; Max R. Cheek of Asheboro, NC; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Keith Stout.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Pugh Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
