James Reed Campbell, age 92, of Asheboro went to be with the Lord Monday, March 30, 2015 at Cross Road Retirement Community in Asheboro.
Mr. Campbell was born on February 28, 1923 in New Castle, PA to Thomas and Charlotte Reed Campbell. James served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was retired from General Electric after more than 37 years of service. James was a member of the Wally Byam Caravan Club, a lifetime member and longtime volunteer with the YMCA, and volunteered with Christians United Outreach Center (CUOC) and Meals on Wheels. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and William.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Griffith Campbell; daughter, Alice M. Harrison and husband Michael of Voorhees, NJ; son, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey A. Campbell (Ellen) of Green River, WY; grandchildren, Jennifer Harrison of Bruce, SD, Greg Harrison of Laurel Springs, NJ; great grandchild, Parker Harrison; sister, Frances Ann Stebbins of Parsippany, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
