James Darrell "J.D." Bowers, age 72, of Asheboro died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Bowers was born August 12, 1942 the son of Tom and Nellie Waddell Bowers.
J.D. was a native of Wilkesboro, NC and a retired Clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a retired U.S. Marine, as well, and was very proud of his country and the Marines with which he had the pleasure to serve. He enjoyed music and was somewhat accomplished on the guitar and as a vocalist. J.D. will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda Wood Bowers; son and his wife: Eric and Melissa Bowers of Greensboro, NC; son: Buttons Bowers of Statesville, NC; one daughter: Cindy Aremia; stepson: David Tuttle of Kernersville, NC; stepson: Don Tuttle of Asheboro, NC; stepson: Scott Tuttle of Kernersville, NC; stepdaughter: Dena Tuttle of Winston Salem, NC; 9 grandchildren; sister and her husband: Judy and Tony Meadow of Statesville, NC; and sister and her husband: Peggy and Paul Haggar of Stoney Point, SC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 3:00-4:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow at 4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Tracey officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro.
