James Denton "Denny" Akin, age 74, of Asheboro died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Akin was born March 21, 1943 the son of Charles and Lennie Akin. Denny served in the US Army and was a native of Oklahoma. He was the co-owner of A& H Transmission in Asheboro. Denny loved the Oklahoma Sooners as well as NASCAR, fishing and the Chicago Cubs. In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his daughter, Dee Crumpler.
He is survived by his wife: Eleanor Somers Akin of the home; daughters: Lisa Marie Rhinehart of Indianapolis, IN, Debbie Luther (Doug) of Asheboro, and Dawn Dixon of San Diego, CA.; sons: James Akin "Denny", Jr. (Rhonda) of Asheboro, William Akin of OR, Tony Johnson (Andrea) of Gibsonville and Chris Christopher of New Orleans, LA; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Scotty Carpenter officiating with Randolph County Honor Guard performing the military rites. The family will receive friends following the service.
