Jacqueline "Jackie" Dare Comer Biggers, 82, of Asheboro died peacefully at the Randolph Hospice House on Monday, August 15, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 19 at First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro, of which she was a member. Visitation will follow the service in the church's Westminster Hall.
She was born in Covington, VA in 1934 and graduated from Covington High School in 1951. She graduated from Erskine College in SC. After 33 years of teaching elementary school throughout SC, VA, WV and NC, she retired in 1998 from Pinehurst Elementary School. She was a leader in church work over the years, teaching Sunday School, singing in choirs, serving as pianist, participating in women's organizations and serving as a Stephen Minister.
She was succeeded in death by her parents, Donald and Alice Comer of Covington VA.
Survivors include her husband the retired Rev. James Biggers of Asheboro; son Neal Biggers and his partner David Motz of Evansville IN, son Kent Biggers and his wife Yaoying Xu of Midlothian VA, daughter Alice Biggers Smith and her husband Jim Smith of Asheboro; grandchildren Katie Biggers, Kyle Biggers, Kristen Biggers all of Midlothian VA, Natalie Smith and Eric Smith both of Asheboro NC; brother Dale Comer and his wife Kathy Comer of Covington VA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christine McCarty for the care given to Jackie throughout the years of her disease and the compassionate care of the entire staff of the Randolph Hospice House.
