Jack Lee Shortsleeve

Jack Lee Shortsleeve, age 85, of Old NC Hwy 49, Asheboro died Friday, June 5, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Mr. Shortsleeve was a native of Fulton, New York. He retired from General Electric after 20+ years of service and did various jobs of all trades. Mr. Shortsleeve was a veteran of the US Army in WWII where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division and served in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Shortsleeve earned many medals including the Bronze Star during his time in service. He also served in the Asheboro unit of the National Guard from 1948 to1952 as Sgt. 1st Class. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all that knew him.He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Esther Hoover Shortsleeve of Asheboro, two daughters: Susan Hill and her husband, Kenneth and Brenda Bumgarner and her husband, Don all of Asheboro, grandchildren: Kennan Hill and his wife, Danielle, Kevin Hill and his wife, Carla all of Asheboro, Holly Cogan and her husband, Chris of Archdale, NC; Bryan Bumgarner and his wife, Bonnie, Matthew Bumgarner, Stacey Hodge and her husband, William and Jaclyn Bumgarner all of Asheboro, great grandchildren:, Hunter Hill, Keaton Hill, Haedyn Hill, Kenzie Hill, Devyn Cogan, Riley Cogan, Brianna Bumgarner, Jake Bumgarner, Luke Bumgarner, Logan Hodge, Brooke Hodge, Lori Hodge, Drew Hodge and Kari Hodge, step great grandchildren: Paige Cogan and Camryn Cogan, one sister: Sally Casler and her husband, Joe of Asheboro and one brother: Chuck Shore of Hyde Park, NY, numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved poodle, Mitzie.The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. prior to service.
