Jack Hartley

Spencer Jack Hartley, age 88, of Sophia died Monday, August 13, 2012 at his home. Mr. Hartley was born May 27, 1924 the son of Francis "Jack" and Eleanor Hartley. Mr. Hartley was a native of Randolph County, served in the US Army during WWII, and a member of Sophia Christian Church. Jack enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and tending to his bees and honey. Jack got to participate in the "Flight of Honor" in 2010 which he truly enjoyed. He is survived by his wife: Metta Hartley, of the home; daughter: Alvalynda Smith and her husband James of Pfafftown, NC; step son, Philip Hall and his wife Pam of Randleman; step daughter, Delta Evans and her husband Kenneth of Randleman; grandchild, Jennifer Lopp and her husband Chuck; 6 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; brother: Charles B.Hartley and his wife Ada of Statesville, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 12:00-1:45 pm at Sophia Christian Church, 5747 U.S. 311, Sophia, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Roger Brittingham and Rev. Jack Clark officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
