Jack Dempsey Garner, age 92, of Randleman passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home. He was born in Randleman on December 2, 1925 to Colon and Iola Garner.
He worked as a carpenter and built many homes and churches throughout his lifetime. He attended Cedar Square Friends Meeting. He was known for his hard work and carpentry skills and will be remembered for his quit wit and humor. He loved working in the garden, listening to bluegrass music, spending time with grandchildren and pulling for the New York Yankees.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Edmonds and Bernice McDonald and uncle Robert Garner.
He is survived by his wife: Opal B. Garner; son and his wife: Gary (Dot) Garner of Randleman; daughter and her husband: Collette (Mark) Hoover of Asheboro; grandchildren: Page Garner and wife Stephanie of Lexington, Cole Garner and wife Monica of New Orleans, LA, Madison Hoover of Wilmington and Frankie Hoover of Asheboro; great grandchildren: Cash and Cecilia Garner; sisters Marie Pugh of Salisbury and Peggy Hall (Earl) of Randleman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St, Randleman, and other times at his home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US-220 BUS, Asheboro, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Cedar Square Friends Meeting, 7546 Harlow Road, Archdale with Rev Mike Butler and Rev. Ben Hurley officiating.
