James Calvin "J.C." Corsbie, age 89, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Corsbie was born in the Mt. Hope Community of Guilford County on November 22, 1927 to William and Grace Curtis Corsbie. J.C. served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a salesman of heavy construction equipment for over 40 years with E.F. Craven Company. J.C. was a long time member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ in Whitsitt and was an active member of First E&R United Church of Christ in Asheboro, where he taught Sunday School and served on the consistory. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro. In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mozelle Cooke Corsbie, grandson, Joshua Christopher Reece, and two sisters. J.C. was a loving, dedicated husband and father and was a man of strong faith. He enjoyed gardening, volunteering and helping others in need. J.C. was always putting others first and had a great sense of humor, always picking around with people. A true handyman, J.C. could fix anything that was broken.
He is survived by his son, Chris Corsbie and wife Joanne of Asheboro; daughter, Lisa Corsbie Reece and husband Owen of Suffolk, VA; granddaughters, Helen Skeen and husband Thomas of Asheboro and Maggie Lankford and husband Lucas of Fuquay-Varina; and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf, Rev. Connie Weaver, and Rev. Dr. Kenneth Clapp officiating. Burial will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Hope United Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cross Road Retirement Community for their kindness and care given to J.C. during his time there.
