J. C. "Bud" Burns, Jr.

J. C. "Bud" Burns, Jr., age 83, of 1345 Albemarle Rd., Troy died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at his home. Bud was born May 5, 1931 at Troy, NC, the son of Joseph Carl and Mamie Lomax Burns. He was retired owner and operator of Burns Logging Company and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Bud is preceded in death by three sisters: Ilda Thompson (Rex), Wanda Hamilton and Rachel Harvel (Ed). He is survived by his wife: Barbara Hoover Burns of the home; five daughters: Celia Russell (Charles) of Asheboro, Deborah York (Mark) of Albemarle, Mitzi Woodbury (Robert) of Troy, Carla Richards (Lloyd) of Troy, Sherri Hogan (Josh) of Troy; one son: Joseph Burns, III of Centreville, VA; one stepson: Brian Hoover (Jennifer) of Easley, SC; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Aileen Brown and Rebecca Gordon (Paul), both of Troy. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 819 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Troy with Rev. Rodney Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mt.
