J. Branson Batten

Jesse Branson Batten, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 9, 2009. He was born November 28, 1920, in Montgomery County.Mr. Batten is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Edna Roberts Batten of Troy. He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon Batten Riddick and husband, Charles of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; a son, Larry Richard Batten, Sr. and wife, Toni of Rock Hill, S.C; his grandchildren, Rodney Batten, Rich Batten, Jill Batten Haddad, Tim Batten and Michael Riddick; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Jesse Eugene Batten.The family wishes to thank the many relatives and friends for their sustaining love and concern in this time of grief and sorrow.At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Hwy 134 North, Troy, NC 27371.No services are planned.Arrangements by Pugh-Troy Funeral Home.
