Iula Moon Burgess

Iula Moon Burgess, age 82, of 412 Turner Street, Asheboro died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mrs. Burgess was born February 17, 1930 the daughter of John Irvin and Teressa Price Moon. Mrs. Burgess was a native of Randolph County. She formerly worked for Blue Jeans and was a floor lady at Tip-Top Hosiery. She retired from Burlington Industries and Commonwealth Industries. Iula enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shaker sets, porcelain dolls and bells. She was preceded in death by her husband: Earl "Buck" Burgess; parents: John and Teressa Moon, two sisters: Colleen Henderson and Leona "Teenie" James and her brother: Wilbert Pinkey "Pete" Price. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Michael "Mike" and Johnnie Elliott of Asheboro, two granddaughters:, Kisha Elliott Vanderford and Tasha Smith both of Asheboro; great grandchildren: Cody Vanderford, Tarell Smith, Jayden Hussey and Adayah Hussey; one great great grandson: Jonathain Henry Vanderford, one sister: Bonnie Ann Moon of Seagrove; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. The family will receive friends Monday, June 25, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, and other times at her home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. James Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Parks Cross Roads Christian Church, Cemetery Fund, 2057 Parks Crossroads Rd., Ramseur, NC 27316.
