Iris Ann Bonkemeyer Nelson

Iris Ann Bonkemeyer Nelson, age 77, of 1111 Gold Hill Road, Asheboro died peacefully Friday, August 31, 2012 at her home in Asheboro. Mrs. Nelson was born January 17, 1935 in Asheboro, NC, the daughter of Ector and Janie Lammonds Bonkemeyer. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church and a 1953 graduate of Asheboro High School. She was formerly employed as a hairdresser at Gay Top Beauty Shop in Asheboro and Freeman's Florist in Randleman, but most of all, she was a loving wife and mother to her family. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Otis Elbert Nelson; Daughters, Marsha Karen Nelson and Melinda Nelson Leonard, both of Asheboro; Son & his wife, Jeffrey and Angela Nelson of Asheboro; Grandchildren, Nicholas Lynn Nelson, Trenton Nelson Leonard, Kailey Blake Lambeth; Sister, Alice Bonkemeyer Hurley of Asheboro. A Private Graveside Service will be held with Rev. Arnold Ray Comer officiating. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:30 PM.
