Irene Hughes McBride

Catherine Irene Hughes McBride, age 84, of 1282 Old NC Hwy 49, Asheboro went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 20, 2011. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from 12:30-1:30 PM at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. McBride was born in Randolph County on July 11, 1927 to Alson Elroy and Nannie Ellen Vestal Hughes. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in the children's department at the church since the 1950's. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her infant son Charles Anthony McBride. Irene was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning and freezing. She had a love for birds and flowers. She is survived by her husband, Willis McBride; son, Hurley McBride and his wife Susan of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Shelia McCain and her husband Branson of Sophia, NC; grandchildren, Karen Hall, Amy Ferree, Greg McBride, and Jonathan McCain; step grandchildren, Kristin Venable and Kimberly Shankle; great grandchildren, Dalton Hall, Jake Hall, Chelsea Hall, Taylor Ferree, Emma Ferree, and Jaxon McBride Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or charity of the donor's choice.
