Irene Deaton Leonard

Irene Deaton Leonard, age 87, of Asheboro died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Charlotte United Methodist Church, 1186 Charlotte Church Rd., Asheboro with Pastor Angel Christ and Pastor Don Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Leonard was a native of Richmond County, retired from Asheboro Hosiery in 1993 and was a member of Charlotte United Methodist Church. Irene was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert J. Deaton and Edgar Boyd Leonard, sisters, Lucille Smith and Anna Dora Peele, brothers, Everette Pate Owens and William "Bill" Owens, and parents, William Cepus and Thersa Guins Owens. She is survived by her sons, James P. Deaton and his wife Joyce of Randleman, NC, Buster Deaton and his wife Denise of Asheboro, NC; daughters, Mildred D. Mosley and her husband Larry of Kannapolis, NC, Joyce D. Hussey and her husband Bennie of Seagrove, NC; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Peggy Gordon of Asheboro, NC, and Francis Owens of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Ray and Phyllis Williams, 201 Lexington Place, Asheboro. The family would like to express a special thanks to Tina Martin, Madonna, Pamela, Lisa, Dustin, and the rest of the staffs at Carillon Assisted Living and Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation.
