Irene Hooker

Clara Irene Shaw Hooker, age 98, of Asheboro died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Hooker was born August 31, 1920 in Randolph County to Gus and Tishie Cranford Shaw. 

She attended New Hope United Methodist Church and Living Waters Church.  Mrs. Hooker retired from Kayser-Roth in Asheboro.  After retirement, Mrs. Hooker started working at Dixie Express and retired from there at the age of 89.   

She is survived by her husband, Reggie Oliver Hooker, Jr.; sons, Gene Hooker of Sophia, Wayne Hooker and wife Brenda of Asheboro, Ed Hooker and wife Ava of Asheboro, Mike Hooker of Level Cross; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters, Sue Reeder and Tinnie Cornelison both of New Hope.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Gunter and Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating.  Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
