Inez Wright York Holland, age 97 who grew up in Asheboro and was a long-time resident of High Point, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
Mrs. Holland was a native of Randolph County and a long-time member of Green Street Baptist Church in High Point. She and her first husband operated York's Soda Shop in Franklinville. Mrs. Holland later assisted her second husband Truett in the office at Richardson's Department Store in High Point. She enjoyed working in her yard and doing crossword puzzles. She was known for her grace and beauty but is best known for her kindness and love for her family and the Lord. Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas William Clarence York, her second husband, Truett Rhyne Holland and her son, Thomas Rodney York.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane York Jordan and husband Harold of Asheboro, Vickie Holland Taylor of Danville, VA; son, Barry F. York and wife Sheila of Thomasville; grandchildren, Christine Mathewson, Karen Freeman, Dan Jordan, Rusty York, LeAnn Bower, Stephanie Breza; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jacob, Zachary, Zach, Darrell, Cassie, Trystan and two great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Steven Cox officiating.
