Ida Ruth Jones Alman, age 90, of Asheboro died Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Alman was born August 27, 1929 in Guilford County to Ezra and Zennie Jones.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she played in the hand bell choir. Mrs. Alman was a retired teacher at Charles McCrary School after 28 years of service. She was a very active lady who delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at Victory Junction Camp and always loved helping children. Mrs. Alman enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross stitching. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alman was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. "Nos" Alman; brothers, Dr. E. L. Jones and sister, Elizabeth Payne.
She is survived by her sons, F. Julian Alman and wife Karen of Siler City, Dan N. Alman and wife Cindi of Wilmington; grandchildren, Kimberly Alman of Asheboro, Kelly Mendenhall and husband Scott of Greensboro, Josh Alman of Gaffney, SC, Sam Alman of Gaffney, SC; great grandchildren, Chloe and Keegan Mendenhall, Kenadee Quinton, Cali Alman; and sister-in-law, Anne Alman Jones of Thomasville.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 4, 2019 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of Julian and Karen Alman. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro with Dr. J.F. Howard Sr. and Fred Huffstetler officiating.
