Hubert Laurin Cooper, age 96, of Asheboro died Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
Mr. Cooper was born September 20, 1922 in Randolph County to Patterson and Martha Cooper.
He was an Army veteran of WWII, retired from Dixie Furniture after 41+ years of service and was a member of Faith Alliance Church. Mr. Cooper was a true family man and enjoyed singing with his family and taking trips with them to Disney World. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Frances Wilson Cooper, son, Juan Dale Cooper, step-son, James Weatherly, step-grandson, Steven McDaniel, grandson-in-law, James "Jamie" Mauldin, Jr.; four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mildred Barfield Cooper; daughters, Ellen C. McMasters of Staley, Crystal C. Weatherly of Liberty, Beth C. McDaniel and husband Greg of Asheboro; step-daughters, Cheryl Wright of Asheboro, Cynthia McPherson and husband Ward of Asheboro; step-son, Allen Weatherly of Troy; 11 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 30, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frankie Hall officiating. Burial with military honors will be in New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
