Mr. James Hoyt Callicutt, born December 24, 1925 in the Pisgah Community of Randolph County, passed away at his home on Monday, November 16, 2009.He was the longest active member of High Pine Wesleyan Church and was the general contractor and builder of the present church. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Germany. He was a building contractor from 1945-1969. Afterwards, he established R&H Motor Lines, Inc. with his sons. He had a great love for the Callicutt Memorial Church which he helped to establish and maintain.He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Golda Bray Callicutt of the home. Sons, Robert Lathe Callicutt and wife Jeannie Cooper Callicutt, Ralph Alan Callicutt and wife Linda Cheshire Callicutt, Everett Hoyt Callicutt and wife Cindy Kendrick Callicutt all of Asheboro. Grandchildren, Susan Callicutt McDuffie and husband Jeffery Alan, Taylor Brooks Callicutt, Clinton Alan Callicutt and wife Kasey Luther Callicutt, Zachary Trent Callicutt, Ethan Ralph Callicutt, Julia Newman Callicutt, and James Tanner Callicutt. Great grandchildren, Jordan Marie McDuffie, Nicholas Lathe McDuffie, Reilly Marie McDuffie, and Caiden Marie McDuffie. Mr. Callicutt was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Dovie Callicutt, sisters, Merle Callicutt Shaw, Jewell Callicutt Auman, and Ruby Callicutt Cooper, brothers, Rymer Lathe Callicutt, Everett Hugh Callicutt, J.B. Callicutt, and Bax Callicutt.The family would like to express their deep appreciation to his caregivers, Cynthia Cole, Stacey Scotton, Pam Foxx, Mildred Hamer, and Shirl Little.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the High Pine Wesleyan Church, 4492 High Pine Church Rd. with Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp and Rev. George Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro and other times at his home at 5402 High Pine Church Rd., Asheboro.Memorials may be made to the Callicutt Memorial Church and sent to 5291 High Pine Church Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
