Howard Franklin Parks, age 88, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro.
Mr. Parks was born in Davidson County, NC on August 8, 1927 to Foy Howard and Opal Loflin Parks. Howard served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. He was retired from Klopman Mills (Burlington Industries) and attended Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, where he was formerly a Sunday School teacher. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his daughter Jan May. Howard was an avid water skier and enjoyed playing chess and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys Johnson Parks; daughter, Carolyn Hux of Charlotte; son, Dr. Gary Parks and wife Marcia of Asheboro; grandchildren, Lisa Finsted of Tampa, FL, Alison Hux of Cary, Adam Hux, Derek May of Winston-Salem, Brannon May of Winston-Salem, Jennifer Parks of Durham, Justin Parks of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Crysten Finsted of Venice, FL, Taylor Finsted of Venice, FL, Ashley Fram of Tampa, FL; and brother, Leonard Parks and wife Mary Edythe Parks of Asheboro.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, 825 Highland St., Asheboro with Rev. Elizabeth Bentley and Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall from 11:45am-1:00 pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
