Howard Nelson Greene

Howard Nelson Greene, age 79, of Asheboro died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Mr. Greene was born September 23, 1938 in Montgomery County, NC to David Douglas and Martha Ellen King Greene.  He was of the Baptist Faith and was formerly employed with Klopman Mills for over 30 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Kinley Greene and siblings James Greene, B.D. Greene, J.B. Greene, Johnsie Greene, and Velva Miller.  Howard was a huge NASCAR fan, especially Richard Petty and Kyle Busch. He had a passion for gardening, especially his tomatoes and green beans.  He enjoyed raising chickens as a hobby, but most of all he loved his granddaughter, Kelsie and attending her performances.

He is survived by his children, James Greene and his wife Lynne of Little River, SC,  Diane Allred and her husband Dean of Asheboro, NC and Gary Greene and his wife Kristi of Charlotte, NC, granddaughter, Kelsie Greene of Charlotte, brothers: Gurnie Greene of Seagrove, NC and Eddie Greene of Asheboro, sisters, Jewell Sheffield of Robbins, NC, Vivian Crouch of Asheboro, NC, Lib Sexton of Denton, NC and Carmelita Payne of Ramseur.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro with Rev. Hoyle Harrison officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
