Howard Donald Brown, 72, died on Saturday, April 11, 2009 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.Mr. Brown was born in the town of Sophia to the late James N. and Lonnie M. Brown. He graduated Randleman High School in 1954. Howard served in the US Navy and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church in Randleman and loved his church family very much. Howard was a professional truck driver for 40 years and retired from Roadway Trucking. In addition to his parents Howard is preceded in death by his two brothers James Paul and Homer Ronald Brown.Howard is survived by his wife of 49 1/2 years Linda Hollingsworth Brown; his son Scott Brown and his wife Sandy of High Point; his daughter: Deanna Brown of Randleman; grandchildren, Robert Brown, Chad Hall and Heather Hall; his sister, Margaret Davis and her husband, Donald of Sophia. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 15, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, and other times at the residence. The funeral will be Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 119 W. River Drive, Randleman with Rev. Jesse Carswell officiating.
