Howard Delbert Britt

Howard Delbert Britt, age 86, of Troy died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro, NC.

Mr. Britt was born June 15, 1932 in Greensboro, NC the son of the late Walter Daniel Britt and the late Mittie McCaskill Britt.

Howard served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Assistant Postmaster of the Troy Post Office after 25 years of service. He was known to be a warm, loving, gentle man who loved farming, and singing in the choir at his church. He was also known to be quite a jokester. First and foremost, Howard was dedicated to spreading the Gospel. He was a member of The Gideon's International, Montgomery County Camp, member of the Troy Masonic Lodge #718, and a retired member of the Montgomery County Rescue Squad.  Howard also helped organize and establish The Upper Room Ministries National Prayer Hotline in Nashville, TN, of which he was very proud.

He is survived by three daughters: Angelia Britt of Thomasville, NC, Donna (Larry) Brown of Eagle Springs, NC and Kerma Taylor (Donald Hurley) of Troy, NC; Grandchildren: Matina Dwyer, Kenton Brown (Kyndal), and Jordan Howard Taylor; Great grandchildren: Meagan Dwyer, Cohen Davis, Bentley Brown, and Britton Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Britt; brothers Elmer Britt, Larry Wayne Britt and sister Dorothy Holt.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 31, 2019 from 1:30 PM to 3:45 PM at Love Joy United Methodist Church,1137 Substation Rd., Troy, NC. The funeral will follow at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Ron Scott, Rev. Clay Morgan, Rev. Tommy Haynes, and Mr. Doug Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Love Joy United Methodist Church Cemetery, Troy, NC.
