Herbert Clay Williams, age 82, of Asheboro died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Williams was born December 19, 1931 in Randolph County to Samuel and Doshia Williams. He was retired from Klaussner Furniture in Asheboro and was a charter member of the Ulah Fire Department. Mr. Williams was a choir leader and deacon at Shadow of the Cross Baptist Church in Asheboro. He had a love for music and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Troutman Williams and sisters, Dorothy Hulin, Effie Morgan and Alta Conner.
He is survived by his sister, Lillian Bailey and husband John of Asheboro; brother, Nolan Edgar Williams and wife Hilda of Whittier; special friend and caregiver, Barbara Martin of Asheboro; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Green and Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will be in High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 4492 High Pine Church Rd., Asheboro.
