Henry "Joe" Taylor, age 80, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Mr. Taylor was born in Charlotte, NC on February 27, 1935 to Henry Furman and Ada Fay Wright Taylor. Joe was a 1953 graduate of Central High School in Charlotte and a 1957 graduate of NC State University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe retired from Eveready Battery after 40 years of service. He was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother Ray Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Strother Taylor; daughter, Alison Lynn Taylor of Greensboro; son, Ashley Scott Taylor and wife Amy of Gahanna, OH; grandchildren, Natalie Fay Mickey and husband Adam of Spring Hill, TN, Evan Ross Taylor of Athens, OH; and sister-in-law, Betty Taylor of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf and Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Westminster hall.
