Henry Burlyn Dickens, age 80, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Dickens was born in Pittsboro, NC on October 18, 1937 to Royce and Sadie Denson Dickens. He retired as a supervisor with J.H. Allen Construction. Henry was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty McLean and Marie Wicker. Henry was a huge Duke fan, loved playing golf, and enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Shirley Ferguson Dickens; daughters, Delores D. Garner and husband Tom of Asheboro, Lisa D. Dunlap and husband Keith of Seagrove, Tracey Dickens of Seagrove; stepdaughters, Carole H. Smith and husband Scott of Asheboro, and Diane H. Trogdon of Asheboro; grandchildren, Crystal, Terry, Jana, Heather, Chad, Derek, and Lane; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Ed Dickens and wife Betsy of West Jefferson; sister, Harriett D. George of Moncure; and faithful canine companion, Rosie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
