Helen Deaton Parks, 88, of Asheboro died Saturday October 22, at Woodland Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center after a brief bout with cancer. The family will receive friends form 6:00 -8:00 PM, Monday, October 24 at Pugh Funeral Home , 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Helen was a native of High Point, NC and graduated from Allen Jay High School where she played varsity basketball. She was a home maker with a love of family and golf. She was a charter member of Pinewood Country Club and helped to found the Pinewood Ladies Golf Association serving as a past president of that organization. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; William Turner Deaton and Nora Tucker Deaton, two brothers; Howard Deaton of Mobile, AL and Melvin Deaton of Sacramento, CA. She is survived by three sons; Larry Parks and wife Sherry of Miami, FL, Charlie Parks and wife Lynn of Asheboro and Van Parks and wife Sherrie also of Asheboro, seven grandchildren; Allan Misner of El Dorado, AR, Michelle Parks of Oakland Park, FL, Adam Parks and wife Sarah of Miami, FL, Johnathan Parks of Asheville, NC, Zachary Parks of Miami, FL, Ron Parks and wife Penny of Rockwell, NC and Lee Parks of Asheboro, four great grandchildren; Rebecah Misner, Megan Parks, Bailey Parks and Caelan Parks and two sisters Madeline Cecil of Virginia Beach, VA and Vivian Coburn of Jacksonville, FL.
