Helen "Maybell" Davis Rummage

Always the lady, Helen "Maybell" Davis Rummage, age 87, of 450 Mountain Top Rd. Asheboro died Friday, October 24, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mrs. Rummage was born September 16, 1927, the daughter of Burpee P. and Anna Lorine Alexander Davis.. In addition to her parents, Helen was pre-ceded in death by her husband Luther Dee "L.D." Rummage, Jr. She was a native of Mooresville, NC and raised four children. Helen moved with her husband, a US Air Force veteran to Asheboro after 1963. She was the voter registrar for Asheboro Precinct #1, a member of the YMCA Board and Hospice Board. She was also a member of the North Asheboro Board to get in the city. (We Did) She taught Primary Sunday School class at E & R Church and was circle leader for Della Haga Circle for 10 years; also served as church consistory deacon and elder. Helen was a substitute teacher for Asheboro City and Randolph County School Systems. She is survived by one son: Steve Rummage and wife, Laura Lea of Maiden, NC; three daughters: DeAna Spangler and husband, Jim of Evans, GA, Trisha Lahmeyer and husband, Wayne of Asheboro, NC, Judy Fox and husband, Dave of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren: Abraham and Kathy Rummage, Geoff and Tracey Smoland, Keith and Brandis Smoland, Scott Lahmeyer, Jenna and Nick Brannon, Fred and Karen Spangler, Whitney Spangler, Erin Spangler, Lauren and Taylor Tankersley, Lindsay and Patrick Murphy, Myles McConkey, Kevin Fox, Rob Rummage and Merritt O'Brien; great-grandchildren: Mack and Brodie Rummage, Davis and Evie Smoland, Milly and Palmer Brannon, Brandon, Dillon and Katlin Spangler, Huck Tankersley, Elena and Victoria Murphy. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 pm at First E & R United Church of Christ, 221 Cliff Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11 am at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury. Memorials may be made to First E & R United Church of Christ, 211 Cliff Rd., Asheboro NC, 27203.
