Hazel Joyce Epps Palmer Morton, born May 11, 1924, the daughter of the late Zimmery Houston and Maudie Shaw Epps passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014.
Hazel was predeceased by husband: JC Morton, brothers; Leo Epps Sr., Kenneth Epps, James Spencer Epps, sister: Maude Epps Morrow and grandson Alan Palmer.
She is survived by sons; Darrell Palmer and wife Pat of Asheboro, Gary Palmer and wife Wanda of Asheboro; grandson: Shawn Palmer and wife Jan of Franklinville, great-grandson: Trevor Palmer and wife Hannah, and great-granddaughter: Tori Palmer all of Franklinville; great-great-granddaughter: Everyn Palmer of Franklinville; brother: Herb Epps and wife Margaret of San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special mention of extended family that are MaMaw Hazels kids too. Brenda and Larry Perdue, Faye and Dennis Robbins; grandchildren: Joe and Leesa Perdue, Connie and David Billups, David and Samantha Whitaker, Scott and Kirbi Whitaker, Jason Whitaker, Lindsey Jackson, Brittany and Tony Lockamy, Judy Jackson; great-grandchildren: Erin and Robert Campbell, Cole Billups, Kara, Allie and Braxton Perdue; great-great grandchildren: Sabrina, Tabitha and Wesley (the little boy) Whitaker, and Trey Lockamey.
Hazel worked at various textile plants in her life and retired from Jockey International in Cedar Falls, NC. One of her talents was baking pound cakes and yeast rolls which some of the family called Hazel "bread."
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2:00-3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Chrisco officiating. Burial will be held in Southside Cemetery in Troy, NC.
