Harry James Whittington, Sr., age 66, of Randleman died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mr. Whittington was the son of William Eugene and Hazel McNeil Whittington. Harry was a native of Randolph County and a carpenter. He was a spiritual person who was loving and caring. Harry loved his church and family and enjoyed gardening, and NASCAR Racing. In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Whittington and nephew John Idol. He is survived by his wife, Diane Whittington of the home; son: Harry Whittington, Jr. and his wife Vickie of Randleman; grandson, Matthew Whittington and his fiancé Amber Pugh of Randleman; sisters: Pat Fruitt of Asheboro, Mary Idol of Randleman; brothers: Gene Whittington and his wife Linda, Dwight Whittington and his wife Jenny all of Franklinville; half sister, Mary Frances Raines of Ellerbe, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 7 to 9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Rd., Randleman with Pastor Jonathan Perdue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, 3335 Wesleyan Rd., Randleman, NC 27317.
