After years of declining health, Harold Clyde Thompson left his home here on earth June 6, 2016. Mr. Thompson was a resident of Sophia for 55 years. He was born May 11, 1933 to John Carver and Olna Cody Thompson who preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death are wife Dorothy Marie Thompson, brothers John Carver (Jack) Thompson Jr., Walter Lowell Thompson, Robert Paul Thompson, and David Francis Thompson. In Addition, his Toy Poodle "Spyder", who was his loyal and constant companion for 15 years.
Survivors are one sister, Vera Gray and husband Gilbert of Trinity, NC. Three sons, Jeffery Thompson and wife Amanda of Randleman, NC, Joseph Thompson and wife Candy of Ramseur, NC, Mark Thompson of Sophia, NC and daughter Sharon Dorsett and husband Jeff of Sophia, NC. Grandchildren, Jennifer Thompson, Crystal Carmany, Lori Thompson, Jamie Hardin, Alicia Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Niki Hoover, Jaeger Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Jonah Thompson, Job Thompson. Seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Mr. Thompson attended school at Trinity. He was employed as an Upholsterer for the majority of his life. He was also employed with Randolph County as a driver for DRC and later worked as a Security Guard for Klaussner Furniture. He obtained his pilot license in 1956 and enjoyed flying air planes. In 1958 he earned a Diploma from National Radio Institute where he learned Radio and Television repair. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, watching old westerns and loved to go fishing every chance he could.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC 27317. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Larry Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point.
