Asheboro - Harold Vickers Moffitt passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11am at First United Methodist Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Susan Mitchell and Rev. Maria Bliss officiating. The family will receive family and friends after the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow afterwards at Oaklawn Cemetery. Harold was born in Troy, N.C., the younger son of Grace Vickers Moffitt and B.B. Moffitt, Sr. He graduated from Oak Ridge Military Institute, Oak Ridge, N.C. in 1947 and attended Elon College. In 1949 Harold married Minerva Walker of Robbins, N.C. his wife for over 60 years. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952, served in Austria and was honorably discharged in 1954 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Harold worked in the hairdressing industry for 25 years. He also founded Moffitts, Inc. a Real Estate Development firm in 1969. He loved to travel and play golf. Harold was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother B.B. Moffitt, Jr. He is survived by his wife Minerva, son and daughter in law Walker and Joanne Moffitt of Asheboro and grandson W. Bryan Moffitt of Greensboro. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Capital Building Fund at First United Methodist Church, 224 N.
