Harlow Lee King, Sr., age 75, of Asheboro died Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro with military honors.
Mr. King was a native of Asheboro and was a member of Russell's Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 26 years of service. While in the Coast Guard, he received 3 Silver Wing awards for saving lives, and was a champion marksman in 1967-1968. He was also retired from Lucent Technology. Harlow was an avid fisherman and loved the sea. He enjoyed reading Louis La'mour and watching western videos.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy King; daughter, Cynthia Putnam and her husband Richard of Richmond, VA; sons, Harlow Lee King, Jr. of Asheboro, NC and David Monroe King of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Putnam of Richmond, VA; Christopher Putnam and his wife Heather of Powhatan, VA; Jennifer Putnam of Junction City, KS; Austin King and Ally King both of Kennesaw, GA; great grandchildren, Destiny Putnam and Haley Sanderson both of Junction City, KS; brothers, Koren King and his wife Betty of Asheboro, NC and Duane King and his wife Dorothea of Greensboro, NC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
